What Is an Injector Correction Code?

When an injector is repaired, the test bench assigns it a correction code. This code describes the injector's characteristics and how far they deviate from an ideal injector.

A repair changes an injector's characteristics significantly, so it has to be given a new C2i or C3i code that matches its new behavior. Generating these codes is a complex process that requires dedicated test equipment and software.

The code is then programmed into the engine ECU, so that the car's "brain" can adjust the injector's operation depending on engine speed and load and keep the injectors working optimally in every operating mode.

Injector correction code questions

The test bench assigns it while checking the injector. The code records how that particular injector deviates from an ideal one.

A repair noticeably changes the injector’s characteristics, so it must get new C2i or C3i codes straight away. Generating them takes dedicated test equipment and software, see bench injector testing.

The ECU uses the code to correct each injector’s operation depending on engine speed and load, keeping the injectors working optimally across all operating modes.
